Meadow Views is a sympathetically renovated holiday cottage in a small hamlet, near Puddletown and 5 miles North East of Dorchester, off the A35. Situated deep in stunning countryside, it is but a stone's throw from Waterston Manor where Thomas Hardy's first novel and classic, Far From the Madding Crowd starring Julie Christie and Alan Bates, was so beautifully and evocatively filmed. Yet it is only 10 miles from the Jurrasic Coast and within easy reach of a wealth of attractions catering for all interests and age groups.
A former Farm Worker's cottage, Meadow Views was built circa 1885 and is furnished with a wealth of personal touches in keeping with the style and manner of the time - yet offering guests all the amenities of the 21st century. Downstairs features a cosy sitting room with an electric stove for additional warmth for those chilly Autumn and Winter evenings. The sitting room is equipped with FreeSat TV, integral DVD player plus a CD player and radio. There is also a selection of DVDs and CDs from which to choose. The fully fitted kitchen/diner has an electric cooker with ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. There is also a cloakroom with shower, WC and sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one double and one twin. There is also a modern family bathroom.
There are pretty, well stocked front and rear gardens. The rear of the cottage looks across to the River Piddle, water meadows and farmland beyond. A wide variety of birds - including pheasants - are frequent visitors; also deer, badgers, rabbits and hares have been seen.
The area caters for a wide variety of interests. These include walking, bird watching, fishing, riding, golf and water sports. Nearby are RSPB reserves, historic houses, museums, numerous beautiful gardens and, of course, picturesque pubs serving excellent food.
